Concept Building Services cuts DR Time from 24 hours to just 15 minutes with DataFort High Availability Service

Concept Building Services, a Civil Engineering provider, has selected managed service provider DATAFORT to support its business critical servers with Hi-5, a suite of business continuity and disaster recovery services. Implementing DataFort’s Hi-5 high availability service will save Concept Building Services a day in potential downtime – the equivalent of £100,000 in lost revenue.

Concept Building Services control and manage construction work in London and across the country handling a wide range of projects, from emergency services like repairing burst pipes to the full construction of buildings.

The Hi-5 High Availability Service from DataFort has replaced Concept Building Services previous disc based backup process which did not provide the speed of recovery nor scope of protection needed to support the growing business. Concept Building Services has increased its annual turnover form £4 million to £12 million over the past three years and as a result stores vast amounts of data, including project files holding business critical information – loss of this data could result in severe delays to ongoing projects and financial penalties.

The disc based back up process, although adequate, did not provide us with the confidence necessary for projects undertaken on a larger scale. The Hi-5 suite from DataFort enables the recovery of data instantly, which when working from our previous system could have taken days.”

DataFort’s Hi-5 backup images are kept in tight synchronization with all the protected machines, meaning that the potential to lose data is absolutely minimized. In the event of server failure Concept Building Services will be able to access business critical information instantly from a virtual server run inside the locally stored DataFort backup server. If the business location is compromised, employees can work from any internet ready location (like home) assuring service to their clients while new offices are sourced.

The construction industry is hugely competitive and Concept took the decision to improve its business continuity process to maintain an excellent reputation and support business growth. Any downtime can mean customer dissatisfaction and lost revenue. A critical evaluation revealed that for each day the business experiences downtime, a potential £100,000 in revenue could be lost. The ability to recover corrupted data nearly instantly or recover from server failure in less than 15 minutes not only preserves the business, but provides a tangible benefit in terms of capital loss prevention.
