How do I get started using the service?
How do i know the Select+ service will work for us?
DataFort Select+ is the data backup service that adds the benefit of local backup to the usual offsite backup service. When a customer’s backup grows to be over 40Gb it makes sense to add the onsite data copies to facilitate data restoration in a timely fashion. So, this simple and robust service should be a perfect fit for any company either migrating from a standard offsite backup service or is certainly a considerable improvement over tape backup.
Common to all Select+ accounts
Common to all our Select+ customers are the following security measures to make sure your business is protected.
  1. Daily remote monitoring and management by our Network Operations Engineers;
  2. Local data backup for quick recovery, coupled with full system imaging (where appropriate) and offsite secure storage for Disaster Recovery.

How to get started using the service?

Add up how much data you have to backup on all your servers and let the DataFort sales team know. We can then estimate the cost of service provision. After approval we will send you the Terms & Conditions agreement which includes the service SLA, an invoice for the refundable local backup appliance deposit and a Statement of Work. This Statement of Work will detail exactly what service you will be receiving and will have the initial setup of your service and how it will be installed on your business site or sites.

Time scales

We will need the initial deposit and a signed agreement to set an installation date for the start of service. The installation date can be as little as 10 days after receipt of funds.
Seven days prior to installation we will need a completed statement of work for each business site. Installations that require dedicated bandwidth may take longer to arrange and this should be taken into account when developing the plans to transition from your current data security methodology.

After the installation the final invoice for installation and setup charges will be submitted for payment.
Prior to the Day of Installation
The backup equipment will be delivered to your office as per the details provided in the Statement of Work. DataFort will confirm that the equipment has arrived on site.
The day of installation

The DataFort engineer will install and test the appliance, setup the backups and archives as per the Statement of work. It will be helpful to have a member of staff at the customer’s office assigned to facilitate the installation.

The first full backup will either be made to the backup appliance and a USB disk for transfer to the data centre. Or to the local appliance and synchronised over the Internet to the data centre.
Post installation process
After installation the customer will receive a welcome pack detailing service procedures for changing backup selections, recoveries and deletions. The support process is also covered. An introduction to your account manager will be made and you will be invited to contact them at any time for assistance with your security needs.
Support is always available
If you backup to tape, you are left to ponder how to make it work and what to do if it stops working. One of the key benefits of using any of DataFort’s services is the fact that you always have the DataFort support desk to rely on for assistance fine tuning your back, answering your questions or assisting with data recovery.
