DataFort Corp.
Signs First US ISP Deal |
| San
Diego’s PCS WorldNet Will Offer PCFort Backup Service
to SOHO Users |
| Release
date: March 2005 |
| San Diego
and New York - DataFort Corp. has signed its first U.S.
ISP reseller deal with San Diego-based ISP, PCS WorldNet.
The ISP will offer its subscribers DataFort Corp’s
PCFort, a new offsite backup service for small office
and home office (SOHO) personal computer users. |
PCFort,
sold and marketed by New York City-based DataFort Corp,
is a secure, offsite data backup service that provides
SOHO businesses and concerned consumers with access
to the same level of automated, secure offsite backup
technology used by large multinational corporations
and financial institutions. PCFort is sold as a turnkey
solution to ISPs, which can then offer the service to
their small and medium sized office customers. To ease
the integration, PCFort’s end-to-end solution
includes software, web-based customer management tools
and comprehensive customer support. |
PCS
WorldNet will offer PCFort’s offsite backup services
to its subscribers, effective April 1, 2005, under the
name of HookUpz E-Safe. New customers will receive their
1st month free with pricing starting at only $2.99 per
month for 250 MB and $5.99 for 1GB of storage. |
“We’ve
structured PCFort so that our partners can offer a high
quality backup service at a reasonable price, which
is what the market now demands,” said Marcie Terman,
chief operating officer of DataFort Corp. “Forty-seven
percent of surveyed broadband customers are willing
to pay for a value added service (VAS) such as security,
and PCS WorldNet recognizes the need to provide its
customers with secure offsite backup.” |
The
PCFort service is easy to use. PC WorldNet customers
simply need to download pre-configured software onto
their computers and follow simple installation instructions.
PCFort is preset to backup the ‘My Documents’
folder, but customers can refine their selections under
the ‘setup’ menu. The user then selects
a backup schedule or opts to initiate backups whenever
connected to the Internet, as in the case of laptop
users on the road. |
“Small
to medium sized businesses and concerned consumers realize
the risks associated with storing crucial data, personal
documents and even family photos, on their computers,
“ said Carlton “Steve” Walters, Chief
Executive Officer of PCS WorldNet. “PCFort’s
automatic offsite data backup service is the perfect
solution and should prove a great value to our customer
base.”
