DataFort refer to UK SMEs as “the forgotten 99%” because, as its Business Development Director Marcie Terman explains, “According to the DTI, 99% of UK companies are SMEs, yet 99% of disaster recovery, off-site storage and business continuity services are aimed at enterprise-level and corporate users.”

The first set of seminars will take place at the flagship SME IT event, ProfIT, which takes place at Sandown Exhibition Hall on 11th and 12 February. ProfIT is backed by UK Online for Business, Business Link, Technology Means Business (TMB) and the London and Surrey Chamber of Commerce. As they say themselves, “A recent survey by the British Chamber of Commerce found that 94% of SMEs are now aware of the impact technology will have on their business. So why are so few of them doing anything about it?”

Wizard Solutions is one of 70 companies exhibiting at ProfIT and they will also be offering seminars of their own on custom software development. This Surrey -based reseller was founded in 1996 and has a customer base of 300 across London and the home counties. “DataFort is a revolution in backup,” says Wizard MD Michael Keefe. “Existing off-site backup systems available to SMEs are terribly problematic. They last a day outside the warranty and always keep failing! DataFort is an excellent solution to a vital requirement.” Wizard’s team of engineers will act as the human face of DataFort to their customers, providing on-site installation, disaster recovery and training.

As with business continuity they plan to make the world of custom software – hitherto only viable to the likes of banks and insurers – available to SMEs via tailor-made packages.
