DataFort Announces
Version 3.0 of SME Offsite Storage System |
Bigger
Storage, Faster Uploading, Enhanced Interface Sees Off-Site
Outstripping Tape,
Hard Disk And Traditional Back-Up |
| Release
date: 31 March 2003 |
| DataFort,
provider of effortless off-site data back-up, today announced
the latest version of its award-winning system for SMEs.
Businesses can now back-up individual files of up to a
terabyte – allowing the secure archiving of sizable
databases. DataFort’s unique ‘trickle’
back-up mode extends the ability to secure large amounts
of data during the critical initial backup of a client
’s information. |
| "Someone's
hard drive somewhere crashes every 15 seconds,”
exclaims DataFort’s Business Development Director,
Marcie Terman. “Worse still, 2,000 laptops get stolen
each day, 32% of lost data is due to human error, and
one in five every PCs will at some point suffer a fatal
crash. These recent stats from Applied Wireless support
what we’ve always said – for true business
continuity, data has to be backed up off-site, away from
fire, flood or threat.” |
| DataFort
3.0’s ‘Desktop Console’ provides users
with a full picture of their backup profile, allowing
them to track recent backups, change version settings
or global storage settings. As off-site back-up relies
on a stable internet connection, the system includes a
‘Network Health Check’ which provides an audited
account of internet connectivity for later trouble shooting,
all included in the service price. It has a low operating
footprint, thus minimising CPU usage, and a new ‘wizard’
allows easy backup setup for new users. |
| “Off-site
storage is a key issue for concerned individuals and thriving
businesses alike. It can help save substantial downtime
costs and allows businesses to keep hold of their most
valuable asset – their information,” continues
Terman. “DataFort 3.0 could certainly have saved
Cambridge University from losing its priceless brain wave
recordings of cerebral palsy patients when a laptop was
stolen from their Department of Anatomy lab. It could
even have helped Jerry Hall, who lost various personal
files when her $10,000 laptop was stolen from her home
the night she stepped on stage to perform in The Graduate.
To say nothing of Qualcomm’s CEO Irwin Jacobs whose
IBM Thinkpad – containing a great deal of sensitive
corporate information – vanished from the stage
while he was in the middle of a speech!” |
