Bytebaq Case Studies
University Students

BACKGROUND:  All students need computers these days to keep up with the challenges of their course.  Research, writing papers, even social networking and letters home are all done on computers.
ISSUE: Students are not the most conscientious of computer users and the critical work created on these machines are at risk of loss and theft. Or incidents as random and unexpected as a can of lager accidentally tipped into the computer after the completion of a critical paper.
SOLUTION: When providing your new scholar with a laptop to take away to uni, make sure that laptop is equipped with a Bytebaq account. Any time they are connected to the Internet, Bytebaq will backup all the critical information on their computer in the background. The student won’t even need to think about it.

Estate agents in the field
BACKGROUND: A nationwide estate agent with over working in the field 400 had an ongoing problem with stolen laptops. The machines were used to gather important information about newly listed properties. Statistical data about the area, images of the property and descriptions were all input while the agent was out of the office or working from home. If a machine was lost, all the work had to be redone sometimes including a reshoot of the property photographs.
ISSUE:
Standard offsite backup services were too expensive and the machines were in the office so infrequently that synchronisation with the office server did not really alleviate the problem.
SOLUTION:
Bytebaq was rolled out to 10 percent of the field agents as a 3 month test project. The results were so successful and the recovery of critical data saved so much effort, the 90 day trial was shortened and the service was rolled out across the network after only 6 weeks.

Independent accountant

BACKGROUND:An independent accountant with over 40 clients was increasingly concerned about the security of his customer’s data. He had been backing up their data to a USB drive attached to his key chain until he accidentally left his keys in a local restaurant.
ISSUE: He realized that not only was a portable drive not really a safe way to backup his customer data, that data was unencrypted available to anybody who found it. Not only was he putting his business at risk, he was putting confidential information into the public domain.
SOLUTION: He opened a Bytebaq account for the laptop he took to client’s business sites and found the service so easy to use and so helpful that he opened a Bytebaq account for his home computer as well.

Family with 3 children and 5 computers

BACKGROUND: A family in Kent with 3 teenage kids needed to backup their data. Each son had a computer they used for school work but also downloading a variety of games and other things from the Internet. Mum used her computer for online shopping and running a small business on Ebay, while dad brought his office laptop home so he could stay productive over the weekend.
ISSUE: Dad was pretty security conscious and realised his family would be very disrupted if even a single one of these machines crashed, was stolen or damaged. His sons had a habit of disabling security software if it Interfered with their Live Chat or downloading activity.
SOLUTION: He set up a Bytebaq account on his business laptop and soon decided that because of the way the service worked in the background it was the perfect solution for both his wife and 3 sons. Disabling the software would not even be an issue since it worked in the background his sons wouldn't even realise the software was hard at work securing their data.
